Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize?

They must just give that thing away to anyone. To give the Peace Prize to the president who has not ended the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but extended them? The Prize has no value any longer, and what a horrible message: Words matter, actions don't.

Peace Prize Winners

Read over some of the previous winners and see if you still feel that this year's prize is some thing out of the ordinary.

Ok, I read the list. Yes, it still seems a bit out of the ordinary, particularly when knowing that Obama was nominated within two weeks of being inaugurated. He didn't distinguish himself really as a US Senator, and he certainly hasn't done anything, to rival, say, Mother Theresa, or Norman Borlaug.

Show me who you think he's on par with. That might be more useful.

OK. You've got me on the timing thingy.

On a par with (or superior to):

2000 (Kim Dae Jung) & 2005 (IAEA & Mohamed ElBaradei) probably worsened peace prospects.

2001 (UN & Kofi Annan) Sure, peace loving, but corrupt as heck.

2002 (Jimmy Carter, Jr) Substandard President, failed negotiator (repeat offender)

2007 (IPCC & algore) oh puh-leeze.

Well, that's a short list. A current list of recipients, to be sure, but current.

Funny- the current recipient most objecting to the Prize cite is Arafat.

Oh, the marginalized ex-terrorist is complaining?

Boo-hoo. What? Does he think that this year's award is somehow cheapening the process?

It is what it is. Frame the medal, cash the check, and MoveOn. rofl.
