If I've learned anything from the Andre Carson comments... and then the Jimmy Hoffa comments, and the rush by many on the left to defend said comments, it's that the same defenders have decided not to try to elevate discourse, but to accept the belly-crawling nature of it, and slither alongside. This is after watching exactly the same from the right, of course.
I keep waiting to see which side will take the high road. Neither is apparently up to the task.

Guess we'll have to see what the voters reward and what they penalize.
Come on, the bases lap up the red meat. The 7th District will re-elect Carson. The 7th will no more turn out Andre Carson than the MN district will turn out gaffe machine Michelle Bachmann.
I think Doug is saying he believes that a candidate can say anything, no matter how inappropriate, as long as it gets him/her re-elected.
I'm saying it doesn't matter until voters pay attention to policy wonks and not bombast.
Guess they better get their racist and other moronic comments out now, then! Time for smartening up the week or days (hours?) before the election, when the masses are paying attention.
But- No campaign team that wants to win (or opposition 527) will fail to collect these statements and release them in that key last week. And, the base chowed that red meat.
